Waltz of the Force

Padme as the Sith Lord: "Black Swan"
What does the Ballet and Star Wars have in common? Natalie Portman I guess. But that's not the answer I'm looking for. Actually, there's not much in common unless... I take the Phantom Menace's light saber duel and mesh it with Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers..."

Thank you Tchaikovsky!
Thankovsky!

Prometheus: More Promos!

More Prometheus promos! I'm getting super excited for this next installment in the Alien series. After watching all these trailers and comparing the designs to the art found on the Specials Disc in the Alien Quadrilogy Set, it seems as though modern special effects technology has caught up to HR Geiger's vision. Please Prometheus don't suck!

First, we have the UK version of the full trailer that came out this weekend:

Then, we got a tie in to the original Alien movie with Guy Pearce:

Next, we have a Michael Fassbender being built:

Prometheus Full Trailer

The full trailer for Prometheus is out and it reveals a bit of the plot. We find out that the crew of the Prometheus ends up on the "Space Jockey" planet because of an interstellar invitation. These invitations never end up being a  friendly hang out of drunken Wii Tournaments. They tend to be as chummy as a Hannibal Lecter dinner invitation. Wait... didn't Ridley Scott direct Hannibal? Truth be told, if there was a real interstellar invitation, I'd want to be on that first expedition.

I'm loving the HR Geiger imagery in the Prometheus trailers.

Mercy Roulette

Hello Youtubes!
On this edition of Hello Youtubes! I like to talk about a brilliant local artist. The marvelous Mercy Roulette is a talented vocalist in the Boston, MA area. Mercy is a great example that talent and quality exists on youtube and that Boston is not just about bad traffic and crazy sports fans. Well, not all crazy sports fans are bad.Go Celtics! Anyway, I first met Mercy at Boston ComicCon when she cosplayed as Ms. Marvel. At the time, I didn't know she's the lead singer of the local band, Evince Ethos. I am honored to have met such a cool and talented artist. In the embedded video you can see how talented Mercy is as she covers Evanescence's "My Immortal". Not only can she sing, she can also play the keyboard... awesomely well!

My favorite Mercy Roulette piece is her cover of Beowulf's (Robert Zemickis)"A Hero Comes Home". Not only did she cover a tough song, she did it a capella and made it her own as she skillfully and beautifully mixes both Idina Menzel's and Robin Wright Penn's versions. Mercy Roulette, you are my hero!

Winter Is Coming... Soon... Again...

Last week I was distracted by the Game of Thrones Season 1 on Blu-ray. That explains my lack of posts. The series is even better during the second viewing. I am going to be ordering the George R. R. Martin books on amazon soon. I am also learning the opening theme on the keyboard. Obsessed? Me? Maybe...

Anyway, I can't wait until Season 2 comes and instead of "Winter is Coming", this time it's: "War is Coming!" April 1st, 2012, HBO...

Simpsons Game of Thrones Opening

Last Sunday (3/4/12) The Simpsons did their opening in the style of HBO's Game of Thrones. Of all the creative Simpsons openings, this one is my favorite. I especially like the Three-Eyed crows at the Nuclear Power Plant.

Game of Thrones Opening Sung by Sansa, Arya and Bran

Hello Youtubes!
I am extremely happy that Amazon was able to deliver my copy of Game of Thrones on the release date. I was playing around with the extras and found this awesome and cute "commentary" but, I didn't know it was on youtube until I visited Topless Robot this morning. I guarantee this will put a smile on your face. It did for me and I am having an extremely crappy day at work. Thank you Sansa, Arya and Bran for making my day:

R.I.P. Ralph McQuarrie

Looking onward to the far horizon with a sense of romance and adventure...
"My destiny is out there."
R.I.P. Ralph McQuarrie
Ralph McQuarrie Remembered

Ralph McQuarrie was best known for his Star Wars concept designs. That's only a part of this amazing artist's vision. You can check out his fantastic gallery here:
ralphmcquarrie.com

I am at the age where most of my childhood heroes are at their twilight years or braving towards that season. When I was young, they'd shown me the magic and adventures that awaited for me in life but, it always come with some sort of price. Some times these trade offs are harsh and unjustifiably cruel. Thus, lessons of consequences and responsibilities are learned. As I got older it seems as though these lessons gets tougher but, I wear their bravery as armor and I wield their inspiration as artillery.

Ralph McQuarrie, my school notes are full of doodles because of you. I can't stop sketching and painting because of you. Without you, the world would never be able to experience dreams turned into reality:
